A poor quality scan from a print. Taken in 1980 after I had been at Bescot for a few months. The wooden racks in front of me contain TOPS punchcards replicating Bescot downside yard. The machine to my left was a mufax machine which used damp paper and a rotating metal blade to produce facsimile messages. AFA Alan Phillips sits at a Ventek TOPS machine behind me.

In the course of my interests and employment in the railway industry (and transport in general) I have made a number of friends and met the odd character.

Because I moved away from home at the age of 18 to further my career (not much promotion in Mid Wales !!!) Bescot became a "second home" to me for 21 years. Many of the railway folk at Bescot were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed many "extra-curricular" experiences. One of those highlights was a trip to the Southampton area on a pair of class 20s.

I wouldn't compromise any individual's identity here but thanks to all those who gave me so much pleasure in the 1980s - a golden decade for me.
